Tobacco licensing on the cards

Tightening up of legislation proposed to make it harder to sell to those under 18
Ministers have backed plans to license those selling tobacco.
Christine Grahame, SNP MSP for the south of Scotland, is planning to bring forward a private members' bill to introduce the controls. She believes it is currently too easy for those under 18 to obtain cigarettes. Ms Grahame said tightening up the law would also make it harder for people to sell cigarettes on the black market.
Tobacco licensing will be part of an action plan to tackle smoking due to be published by the Scottish Government later this year.
