Further expansion planned in Scotland and London

Commercial law firm McClure Naismith has appointed five new partners and announced a record turnover of more than £15 million.

The partner appointments are in key practice areas of the firm, and combine internal promotion and lateral hire from other UK firms.

Campbell Normand (dispute resolution) and David Hughes (employment) join the firm’s Edinburgh office from HBJ Gately Wareing. Kit Stenning, an experienced corporate/financial services partner, joins from London firm DMH Stallard and will be based in the city. Stewart Whyte (corporate) and Stewart King (commercial property), both current associates of the firm based in Glasgow, have been promoted.

In addition, three assistants in the firm have been promoted to associate in the Edinburgh office - Rachel Robertson and E-Ming Fong, both in dispute resolution, and Mimi Mukherjee in construction.

Chairman Alan Thomson said: “We have spent the last few months conducting a detailed review of our business and McClure Naismith is now entering the first phase of an exciting period for growth and development of the firm.

"We are focused on expansion and we will continue to look to develop our own people within the firm and to recruit talented lateral hires."

The firm is intending to grow its practice further in London as well as in Scotland, and is now progressing with conversion to a UK multinational LLP.
