Strathclyde Police considering seeking bail conditions while admitting enforcement issue

Strathclyde Police are investigating the possibility of banning those accused of assaulting their partners from drinking alcohol.

Senior officers are considering whether the move could be imposed as part of bail conditions, leading to a remand if an accused on bail for domestic assault was caught drinking.

Discussions have taken place with the Crown, but both sides agree that a particular problem is how to police and enforce any such bail conditions.
