Kenneth Cumming to take over from Neil Crichton at the Court of Session

Kenneth Cumming has been appointed as Auditor of the Court of Session, replacing Neil Crichton who retires in September.

Mr Cumming is currently a partner and head of litigation at Edinburgh firm Shepherd and Wedderburn. A graduate of Edinburgh University, he was admitted as a solicitor in 1982. He has been a partner of Shepherd and Wedderburn since 2001.

The Auditor of the Court of Session is a statutory appointment made by Scottish Ministers after open competition.

The auditor's principal duty is to determine the expenses payable following civil litigation in the Court of Session. The auditor may also be called on to fix the remuneration of liquidators and receivers and, at the request of parties, to fix fees in a range of legal work.
