15 September 2008

Alastair McSporran has been appointed as the new senior procurator fiscal depute for Campbeltown.

Mr McSporran, 53, graduated from Dundee University before joining the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in 1981. He has also worked for a spell in private practice.

He will have local responsibility for the work of the fiscal's office, working under David Spiers, district procurator fiscal for Dumbarton and Campbeltown.

Mr Spiers said: "I am delighted to welcome Alastair to the team. He has great passion for the area and an understanding of the people. I am confident that he will work well to maintain the first class service that we deliver to the people of Campbeltown and the surrounding area."
