Collected news of new appointments and practice changes

ANDERSON BEATON LAMOND solicitors, Perth are delighted to announce the promotion of Rachel Scanlon to associate.

BALFOUR+MANSON, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, has promoted Michaela Guthrie and Ross Forrest to associate in the firm’s Litigation department. Both joined the firm as trainees in 2014. The firm has also appointed Graeme Thomson, formerly with BOYD LEGAL, as a senior associate in its Private Client team, and newly qualified Lauren Smith as a solicitor in the Litigation department.

BLACK HAY, Prestwick and Ayr, has appointed Stephen Neillie to head the Trusts & Estates department in the Ayr office with effect from 3 September 2018.

BURNESS PAULL LLP, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, has promoted four new partners: Gary Chapman (Corporate Finance), Morag Moffett and Jennifer Skeoch (Employment), and Allan Leal (Banking & Funds), with effect from 1 August 2018. Also from that date, Peter Lawson takes over as chairman while Tamar Tammes moves into the role of managing partner. Burness Paull has also appointed Jamie Kerr, an accredited specialist in immigration law, as a partner, with effect from 4 September 2018. He joins from THORNTONS, Dundee.

J D CLARK & ALLAN, Duns has appointed Moira Johnston as an assistant solicitor. She joins from THORNTONS, Edinburgh.

CMS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has announced the appointment of Allan Wernham, partner and real estate specialist based in the firm’s Glasgow office, as its managing director in Scotland. He takes over from Caryn Penley, who has been appointed to a global position as CMS UK’s joint managing director of Asia and Middle East.

DENTONS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has appointed Amanda Jones, an employment partner based in Edinburgh, to the new global role of women’s advancement director.

DLA PIPER, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has appointed Ross Campbell as a legal director in its Construction & Engineering practice in Edinburgh. He joins from EVERSHEDS SUTHERLAND.

HARPER MACLEOD, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Lerwick, has appointed Natalie Bruce as a solicitor in the Family Law team in its Inverness office. She joins from ANDERSON, SHAW & GILBERT.

INKSTERS solicitors, Glasgow, Inverness, Portree, Forfar and Wick, have opened an office at 9 Queens Road, Aberdeen AB15 4YL under Rory Cradock, a property lawyer who joins from the MORTGAGE & PROPERTY CENTRE.

LANARKSHIRE COMMUNITY LAW CENTRE, Airdrie, has appointed Andy Knox as principal solicitor. He was previously principal of AK LEGAL CONSULTING, Glasgow. LINDSAYS, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee are pleased to announce that Ian Mitchell joined the firm as a partner on 20 August 2018, based in the Glasgow office and part of the Corporate & Technology Department. In addition, Lindsays wishes to announce that Douglas Roberts ceased to be a partner with the firm on 31 August 2018. He remains with the Corporate & Technology Department of the firm in a new role of director from 1 September 2018, and continues to be based in the firm’s head office in Edinburgh.

MACROBERTS LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee, is delighted to announce it has retained five of its trainees as from 1 September 2018 as they become newly qualified solicitors: Hannah Ward, Rhea MacKenzie, Amy Drew, Rebecca Henderson and Emily Wallace. RGM SOLICITORS, Grangemouth and Linlithgow, announce the promotion of Laura Grant from trainee to solicitor on 20 August 2018, the appointment of Yuliia Waiss (formerly with SANDEMANS, Falkirk) as solicitor from 9 July 2018, and also the retirement of Gordon Marshall, director from 20 August 2018. Gordon Marshall will remain as a consultant/director.
