Taxing times for law firm
Law firm Shepherd+ Wedderburn has strengthened its corporate tax capability with the appointment of partner Jenny Cottrell and solicitor Karl Pocock in the firm’s London office.
Jenny, a corporate tax, international tax, stamp duty and VAT specialist, has over 18 years’ experience gained at City firms and the London offices of two major US law firms.
Her appointment will complement Shepherd+ Wedderburn’s existing tax capabilities providing advice to a client base of established businesses, start-ups and high net worth individuals across the UK.
Her corporate tax experience includes all aspects of UK and cross-border mergers, acquisitions planning and tax transactional work as well as structuring finance for MBOs and venture capital transactions and has a particular emphasis on structured property finance and stamp duty/SDLT mitigation.
Jenny also advises regularly on PFI, employment and VAT matters (particularly in the property context) and has achieved notable success in tax litigation matters.
She also has considerable experience in advising media and technology sector clients on efficient structuring and has over the years specialised in advising clients in the hotels, leisure and drinks industries.
Shepherd + Wedderburn chief executive, Patrick Andrews, said: “Shepherd+ Wedderburn’s move to larger premises in London last year was part of an overall strategy of growth in the corporate sector.
"These appointments not only broaden our offer in UK corporate tax but also strengthen our London team.”
“Jenny has a reputation for delivering superb results for her clients, particularly in the transactional context, and this appointment is a major development for the firm.”
