Further appointments made to Scottish Court Service
Steve Humphreys has been appointed Director of Judicial Office for Scotland.
Formerly Deputy Director of the Judicial Office for England & Wales, he took up his new post on 5 January 2010.
The Judicial Office for Scotland, within the Scottish Court Service, will provide support to the Lord President when established as Head of the Judiciary in Scotland by the Judiciary and Courts (Scotland) Act 2008.
From the commencement date, planned for April 2010, the Lord President as Head of the Scottish Judiciary will have responsibility for the efficient disposal of business throughout the courts and for welfare, guidance and training of the judiciary and for ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place for the investigation and determination of complaints about judicial conduct.
Mark Higgins has been appointed as solicitor member of the board of the new, statutory, Scottish Court Service.
He is a practising solicitor and a member (partner) of the law firm Irwin Mitchell LLP. He joins the other board members previously announced.
