MacEachran promotion in Aberdeen

Aberdeen City Council solicitor Jane MacEachran has been named as head of legal and democratic services in the new office of the chief executive, formed as the council implements its new streamlined management structure.

Ms MacEachran, whose career has been in local government and also serves on the Council of the Law Society of Scotland, has filled the role of city solicitor for the last four years. She now becomes responsible in addition for committee services and members' services.

Aberdeen City Council chief executive, Sue Bruce said: "Aberdeen City Council has now made appointments to almost all the head of service posts, following a very robust recruitment process."

She added: "We have redesigned the organisation to ensure clear lines of responsibility – and by significantly slimming down senior management from 25.5 posts to 16.5, we will make salary savings of £3m over a five-year period."
