Call for Make a Will Month 2010

14 July 2010

Scottish solicitors have been urged to take part in this year’s Make a Will Month, which in November 2009 raised a total of £1.25 for nine charities, £150,000 of which came from Scotland. Will Aid, which organises the annual event, highlights the fact that, as well as raising money for good causes, participating solicitors are also introduced to a number of new clients.

During November, Will Aid solicitors will waive their usual fee for drafting a basic Will and ask instead that the client donate the fee they would normally have been charged to the Will Aid charities. The suggested minimum donation is £75 for a single Will, £110 for mirror Wills. Each Will written under the scheme raises nearly £100 and Will Aid solicitors are free to decide how many Wills they write.

Will Aid has run since 1988 and supports ActionAid, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Age UK, NSPCC, Save the Children UK, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (N. Ireland).
