QC joins Judicial Appointments Board

Iain Gillies Armstrong QC has been appointed to the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland by the Cabinet Secretary for Justice.

A graduate of the University of Glasgow, Mr Armstrong was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1986, and appointed Queen's Counsel in 2000.

He was Clerk of Faculty from 1995 to 1999, standing junior counsel to the Department of Social Security from 1998 to 2000 and Crown counsel from 2000 to 2003. His practice has covered a broad spectrum of the law. He is currently the Vice Dean of Faculty, having been elected in 2008.

His appointment will run for four years until 11 July 2014. Mr Armstrong does not hold any other public appointment.
