Scottish Legal Awards finalists announced
The finalists for the Scottish Legal Awards 2011 were announced today, with large and small legal firms, private companies, public bodies and other organisations all represented among those competing for the honours.
Individuals and businesses are competing in 13 categories with the winners to be announced at a gala dinner on Thursday 17 March in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre – the first time the event, sponsored by Scott + Co, has been held in the evening.
Three firms are in the running for firm of the year – Simpson & Marwick, Davidson Chalmers, and Thompsons Scotland. The first two are among no fewer than nine shortlisted as litigation tem of the year, and each feature in one further category.
Also picking up three shortlistings are Dunfermline based Young & Partners, while Pagan Osborns and Harper Macleod, both past winners as firm of the year, have four and five respectively.
Listed in two categories each are Wright Johnston & Mackenzie, Inksters, and Biggart Baillie.
Apart from law firms, contenders include Registers of Scotland (fundraising achievement), the Civil Legal Assistance Office for the Highlands, and Scottish Court Service for North Strathclyde (both competing with two legal firms for public sector law team of the year), Wood Group, whose Anna Louise Christie is one of five contenders for rising star of the year, and First Scottish Group Ltd (support team of the year). Once again the Law Society of Scotland and Central Law Training battle it out to be training provider of the year.
