O'Carroll appointed to SLCC

The Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Kenny MacAskill today announced the appointment of Maurice O'Carroll, advocate,  as a new member of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission.

A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Mr O'Carroll was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1995 after working for a time in Brussels. He has been an ad hoc advocate depute since 2002 and standing junior counsel to the Scottish Government since 2003. He also has a range of experience in civil work.

The appointment will run for five years from a date which has still to be confirmed but likely to be sometime around March.
