Boardroom changes at Gillespie Macandrew

11 July 2012

Legal firm Gillespie Macandrew announced board changes today with the appointment of Tom Murray as chairman, and Kirsty Macpherson, who leads the firm’s energy and natural resources group, to the firm’s strategy board.

Simon Leslie, the firm’s chairman for the past 15 years, is stepping down to focus on his private client and landed estate practice.

The changes take place with immediate effect.

Paying tribute to Mr Leslie, Mr Murray commented: “During his time as chairman Simon oversaw a significant expansion of the business, quadrupling turnover and trebling the number of lawyers in the firm, relocating our offices from Melville Street to new modern accommodation on Atholl Crescent, and, more recently, overseeing our expansion north of the Forth to Perth, with our new office in Broxden Business Park due to open next month. He will be a hard act to follow.”

He added that the firm had a clear strategy for continuing on its growth trajectory, focus on its key areas of private client, land and rural business, energy, housebuilder and construction, small and medium sized businesses and charities.

“I’m also delighted that Kirsty Macpherson has joined the firm’s strategy board", he continued. "Not only is this a reflection of the significant contribution the energy and natural resources practice delivers to the firm’s business, but also of the importance that this sector will continue to play in shaping Scotland’s future economic prosperity."
