Drummond returned for sixth term at Brodies
Partners at Brodies LLP have re-elected Bill Drummond as managing partner.
First elected in 1998, Mr Drummond will serve a sixth consecutive three-year term, making him one of the UK's longest serving managing partners.
Under his leadership Brodies has grown from around 175 partners and staff in 1998 to 538 at the present day. It now has 77 partners and 333 lawyers and other fee earners. Over the same period, turnover has increased from £8m to £42.8m, and profits from £2.5m to £17.6m. The most recent figures showed year-on-year growth of 16% and 22% respectively.
Brodies has retained a Scotland-focused strategy of development and expansion of specialist expertise, not following the Scottish firms which have opened offices in London, though last year it established a base in Brussels.
Mr Drummond also serves as a board member of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, where he is currently deputy chairman, and takes a wide interest in charitable and pro bono activities.
Joyce Cullen, chairman of Brodies, said: "Bill's re-election demonstrates that our partners continue to put their faith in his ability to build on our success by moving Brodies forward, while offering clients the reassurance of knowing that they can expect to have a long relationship with a stable and successful law firm whose history dates back some 200 years and which has remained true to its values through thick and thin."
She asdded: "Bill is not somebody who rests on his laurels and he has led from the front to inspire new recruits and lawyers at all stages of their career. He is passionate not only about the success of Brodies but also of our clients and the wider Scottish economy".
