Terrorism theme for 2017 Macfadyen Lecture

2 February 2017

"Terrorism and the Rule of Law" is the title of this year's Macfadyen Lecture, to be delivered on Thursday 9 March by Sir Anthony Campbell PC.

Sir Anthony, a former Lord Justice of Appeal of Northern Ireland, was chairman of two high profile Scottish inquiries, the Inquiry into Crown Decision-Making in the Case of the Murder of Surjit Singh Chhokar in 2001, and the Fingerprint Inquiry in 2011.

His lecture will consider the reactions of Parliament and Government to terrorism within the United Kingdom, looking at the response both in the past, when the source of terrorist activity largely came from within the United Kingdom and Ireland, and now, when the major threat is posed by International terrorism, before assessing the problems that may be faced in answering the threat of terrorism in the future.

The lecture will be followed by a reception for those attending.

This is the seventh Macfadyen Lecture, held in honour of the late Lord Macfadyen, Senator of the College of Justice.

Attendance is free but must be booked. Click here to reserve a place.
