Minto wins arts award for National Museum role
Edinburgh solicitor Bruce Minto has been honoured for "outstanding leadership in the arts", for his efforts on behalf of the National Museum of Scotland.
Mr Minto, managing partner at Dickson Minto which he co-founded in 1985, was recognised at the 30th annual Arts & Business Scotland Awards for his service to the museum since 2007. That year saw the beginning of the campaign board, chaired by Mr Minto, which raised more than £13m towards the major redevelopment of the museum over the past decade, which has seen it become Scotland's most visited tourist attraction. He became chair of the board of trustees in 2012 and has now seen the museum's total fundraising efforts top £20m.
He was awarded the MBE in 2015 for services to culture.
Mr Minto dedicated his award to the staff and supporters of the museum, saying he had "inspirational" people around him. "It's very hypnotic and enticing to remain part of it as it's such a great organisation", he added.
